Fields

“Fields” invites you to a bird’s eye view of the world.  Yes, it is abstract, but it is an abstraction that suggests a rural landscape seen from above. Glass fused by the artist, miniature glazed ceramic tiles, recycled glass, and Italian millefiori organize themselves into forests and fields worked by contour plowing.  The glazed ceramic pieces handmade by the artist’s mother, Roberta Mitchell, imply both human construction and a little residual wildness lingering in an agricultural landscape.
