Good for a laugh, “Breakfast on the Grass” is another in the artist’s plate series, but it also fits into the fried-egg theme that she keeps returning to over the years. The eggs and their sprinkling of pepper are kiln-fused glass made by the artist. The glass-tile ‘grass’ hides little hand-made ceramic shapes by the artist’s mother, Roberta Mitchell. This serving-plate-sized sculpture, looks at home here on a crocheted placemat on the ground, or on a table, but, looks equally at home standing on an easel.
