The “Breaks” Progress
“Cut-ups” are still on the loose and making their mosaic. In a previous post, I explained that the Cut-ups are a core group of fellow church members who want to learn to make mosaics, and who are willing to supervise other people in the making of a very large mosaic for an indoor wall, starting in late spring.
Here is the “Cut-ups'” progress today on their own learning mosaic:
Dancing with Jesus- a work-in-progress being made by members of University Presbyterian Church in Austin, Texas
18 inches by 48 inches
During the course of their work, we talk about the decisions they have to make, such as:
1) How do I make this look like the head of a person?
2) How do we make the ribbons breaking loose between the walker and the woman stand out from the background?
3) How do we show these different points-of-view?
There is always more than one option for laying the tile pieces, and decisions have consequences!
Watching the progress of the Cut-ups is one of the most satisfying occupations I have.
