Graduation Time!

On Wednesday, we graduated from Panel 2 into Panel 3! The last pieces were laid and we took the two panels out for admiration and, maybe, some inspiration at the Mission Presbytery meeting in our building this weekend.
Here are the pics:
- First two panels completed, leaning against the wall
- Second panel- detail of Jesus and the canoe. Notice his orange high-tops in the boat, and the “gum” stuck to the sole. Some of our mosaic-meisters are funny.
- Jesus thought he was going to the quiet side of the lake to pray. Guess what?!?!?!?
- It’s downtown Austin, and yes, the buildings depicted actually exist in 2014 A.D.
- You can see the trees and shrubs that create the transition from the crowd on the lake shore to the city buildings.
- Jesus’ shoes were inspired by some bright blue high tops that showed up on an UPLIFT recipient. The mosaic-meister creating the shoes decided they’d be great in some orange ceramics!
- It’s a rocky limestone hillside Jesus must traverse to reach the lake.
