Faces
[slideshow]
More glass shards, more kiln time, more mortar, more faces. These are the faces you have seen before, either on this blog, or at my home studio, and they are starting to multiply. My kiln is running every day now that the West Austin Studio Tour is over.
I am using drawings I have made of people who come to our church one morning a week for assistance of various kinds. These are people whose privacy I respect, and whose dignity I respect even more. Each is named, but with a pseudonym. I love hearing their stories before and after their modeling jobs for me.
You will soon meet the new faces on this blog. The fragile glass coupled with the sturdy cement calls to my heart about the tenderness of feelings and the resilience of character.
Wow, these are sooo interesting! Love the texture and the subtle shading!
Thank you, Helen. I made them in 2011, but am churning out glass material now to make three more faces to enter in a CIVA jury.
