The Tortoise

The title refers to the tortoise-and-hare fable in which the tortoise finishes the race with the hare, and even wins, just by keeping steadily on course, one foot in front of the other.  That is like the building of this mosaic. If you have been looking at the very orange photos

Concentrating hard for many hours a day in the studio is made all the more enjoyable by listening to NPR podcasts, such as This American Life, Snap Judgment, RadioLab, On the Media, Medieval Archives, and The Moth.  Here’s ONE I particularly enjoyed today. My first task

A Rare Uninterrupted Day

No good news, nor bad news.  No responsibilities to anything other than the studio.  And the cats.  Started with a bike ride to eat breakfast with a friend- for me, this is an energizing way to start the day.  Change clothes and to the studio I go. I have started a new

Surprise! I Don’t Just Work on the Church Mosaic.

From all my re-blogs of the church mosaic, you might think that’s all I do.  Well, the church mosaic pre-dates the beginning of this retaining wall commission but, the retaining wall mosaic will be finished far, far sooner. Here’s a look at today’s progress

Sunshine on a Rainy Day
