Clearly dressed for a different occasion, I cannot resist a studio pass-through to check or touch up mosaics after the day’s work is officially over.

Oh, Those Crazy Mosaic Artists!

Spent last week in [beautiful] Houston, Texas at the annual Society of American Mosaics Artists conference. I was in the company of 300 other mosaic artists, so I felt right at home. It is important to talk with as many other artists as possible at one of these conferences, in

Rhythm ‘n’ Tesserae

So, the last two weeks, I have had a skilled mosaic artist helping me complete my large Ammonite fossil wall mosaic.  We are not finished yet, but we’re almost there. Those of you who have not made mosaics before might be surprised to know that copying another

19 Mosaic Artists at 18 Hands Gallery

The annual Society of American Mosaic Artists conference starts in Houston, Texas in just a week and a half.  Mosaico, the Houston mosaic artists’ group, didn’t miss the chance to create a juried show of all-Texas mosaics hosted by 18 Hands Gallery in the Heights

I Love Public Radio!

Concentrating hard for many hours a day in the studio is made all the more enjoyable by listening to NPR podcasts, such as This American Life, Snap Judgment, RadioLab, On the Media, Medieval Archives, and The Moth.  Here’s ONE I particularly enjoyed today. My first task

A Rare Uninterrupted Day

No good news, nor bad news.  No responsibilities to anything other than the studio.  And the cats.  Started with a bike ride to eat breakfast with a friend- for me, this is an energizing way to start the day.  Change clothes and to the studio I go. I have started a new
